DeFoor Brothers, LLC  and The Westin of Chattanooga announce a 23-day food giveback for area residents affected by COVID-19 and recent severe weather events.

“Our downtown block will return the support that we’ve received over the past three years with our 23 day ‘Stronger Together’ giveback effort,” Tom Underwood, General Manager of The Westin hotel said. “Ensuring area residents possess these essential food items is paramount to The Westin and the West Village community at this time—this is our opportunity to give back to the people that shaped us.”

Going into effect this Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 200 bags of food will be created each day containing a variety of essential food items. One bag will be made available for each car, with items varying from day-to-day. Cars are invited to park at 212 West Eighth Street and roll down their window for an awaiting attendant to deliver a bag of food items. The giveaway will take place every Monday through Friday from Wednesday, April 29, until Friday, May 29, 2020.

“Trucks are on their way with apples, soups, grains, and an assortment of food items,” Underwood, said. “Our staff is in the process of organizing our inventory, and we look forward to Wednesday’s first offering.”

For the ‘Stronger Together’ giveback effort, attendants will adhere to health and safety protocols with gloved service, face masks, and minimal social interaction. Room for the plan to grow and evolve in the coming weeks is expected.F

“This effort will take a village, and I’m proud of The Westin and our West Village teams for springing into action with their face masks and gloves held on tight,” Underwood said. “We’re stronger together.”
